February 2008 ~ Winter Expedition |

Dates: February half-term holidays
Location: Losevo, 80km North of Saint Petersburg
Aim: The aim of the Expedition is to introduce Leaders, Scout Network and Explorer Scout members to the opportunities available to Scouting in Russia and to experience activities in conditions and environment not available in Britain.
Activity:
Visit the city of St Petersburg and Scouts and Leaders based in the city making contacts for future visits or exchanges
Travel to Losevo campsite North of the city (stay in cabins whilst on site)
Complete on site projects including research for future Explorer Belt expeditions and Leader training
Cross-country skiing practice
Woodland trekking on skis with two nights camping and survival skill training
Accomodation: Cabins and tents (supplied)
Cost: To be advised but around £600 to include all travel, accommodation, food and planned activities.
Restrictions: You must be 14 years or over on the date of travel
Equipment required: You will need cold weather clothing, (including hat, gloves, thermals, goggles, waterproof trousers, wool socks) good walking boots, and an 80-100L rucksack with good support
Other information: There will be a training weekend before the trip at a location as central as possible to those taking part. Departure flights can be taken from a number of UK locations. Read further details including a report on the 2002 trip. A more precise itinerary will be available at the end of October.

Location: Central Russia
Aim: to celebrate 100 years of Scouting in Russia
