Group Contacts with Russia

Russia is a country which covers huge areas of Europe and Asia. It stretches for 6,000 miles and covers eleven time zones. This website is full of news, stories and information about past, present and future links with Scouters all over Russia.

If you and your group decide to visit Russia or, best of all, plan an exchange with Scouts there, you will find the experience exhausting, exciting and enjoyable!

There are many reasons for becoming involved in a partnership with Russia, just as there are with any other country in the world. But contact with Russia, its people in general and Scouts in particular, will bring many advantages:

• a fresh challenge to achieve new targets in your Scouting in a world context
• fun and enjoyment whilst doing it (and a holiday!)
• a chance to be part of the development of a community, both in the UK and in Russia.
• helping in the development of the Scout Movement in Russia
• providing programme opportunities for all Sections, including achieving the International Friendship Award
• a visit to a different country, with something of an unknown quantity, giving an opportunity for personal development of all concerned
• a chance to generate good publicity for Scouting in your area and to bring members of the Movement together.

Whatever reason matches yours, please take the time to think about why a partnership with Russia may be a good thing for your group to be involved in.
