Mike and Chris gathered many like minded people together and this brought about a large number of visits and exchanges. The Network was an interest group outside of the structure of Scouting and that was its strength and success.
Chris and Mike had been publishing a Network Russia Magazine but when the World Wide Web came along Chris transferred much of the information distribution to networkrussia.org.uk a domain which he owns and he has met the costs of hosting even though he is not a member of the UK Scout Association and although he is an Honorary Life Member of the Network, he rarely attends. He lives in France.
At no time since the fall of the Sovient Union have the aims of friendship, cultural understanding and peace been more necessary between the UK and Russia, than now.
Instead of the Scout Association working with the experience of the Network it has transferred the Network into the formal structure of the Association becoming just another Committee, not at all what was intended when the Network was formed. Today the Network is effectively dead, having had to cancel its latest meeting because it now has too few members wanting to attend.
The latest news is that there are only 4 members remaining.
Therefore, the site is closed.
